Fri, 20 November 2009 This show is not dead. I will be returning in the new year after I've sorted out the technical details. I will be releasing an episode on Sunday or Monday explaining the changes. I would do it now, but PodCrawl is going to get in the way. Mevio {Mevio-fefcac733bca94504d3f2157c714aef3} Category: general -- posted at: 12:02 PM Comments[0] |
Fri, 13 November 2009 The episode title is not a joke. Just listen. Mevio {Mevio-fefcac733bca94504d3f2157c714aef3} Comments[1] |
Fri, 6 November 2009 It occured to me that I didn't fully explain why I don't play the same track multiple times. My philosophy has always been that there are many bands out there that deserve exposure. If I play the same track multiple times then that's taking a slot on the show that could be taken by a fresh new band. That's not to say I don't play the same band multiple times, just not the same track. If you hear it once that should be enough. If you like it you can always rewind and listen to it again. Another great facet of podcasting. Another call for more bumpers for Weird Track of the Week. I'd still like more efforts in my archive and your imagination deserves to be heard on the show. Truly pitiful amount of videos this week. Not even some live performances. The video I do have is pretty good to make up for it. Birds Of Tokyo - Wild Eyed Boy On Weekly Music Video Podcast this week an animated video that was made using a free program. Very imaginative and a very interesting style. Check it out on Friday. Now off to catch up with some music podcasts. Category: Video Links -- posted at: 10:27 PM Comments[0] |

Sat, 31 October 2009 As was plugged in this episode, and in various forms for the last few months, please go and have a look at The Legion Of Tangent. A syndicate of 6 geek-centric podcasts that are all highly entertaining. There's talk that more shows will soon be entering the fold as well. Here's the promo I recorded for the syndicate. It's occured to me that there is another genre of music I'm prejudiced against that has so far escaped inclusion onto this podcast. Reggae. I just don't get it. I'm probably the wrong generation (Marley was a huge deal before I was even born), but it just all sounds the same, derivative and dull. This is not to say that I will never include some reggae on the podcast, just that it seems unlikely. As ever another call for my listeners to provide some Weird Track of the Week bumpers. I'd still like more and I know I have some creative listeners. Not a great deal on the video front this week. The Blue Seeds vid is creepy and weird, but the rest is mostly live performances. New Nobility - Blue Butterfly Lights Out Dancing - Worth The Wait [Live Performance, Poor Quality] The Cold Rush - Open The Doors [Live Performance] Two Cow Garage - Your Humble Narrator [Live Performance] The Blue Seeds - Lost And Delirious On WMVP this week a video that tackles the conformity of a non-conformist cultural grouping. A pretentious way of saying a cool vid about hipsters. See you next week for some more music, ranting and irrelevant sport. Category: Video Links -- posted at: 4:59 AM Comments[1] |

Sat, 24 October 2009 Strange combination of topics this week and once again I've caused controversy with my views. Have a look at the new shows I've been enjoying this week. Creeping With Armstrong and This Reality Podcast. Another telling factor about the gender divide in Sci-Fi is the fact that recently the American Sci-Fi channel changed it's name to SyFy. As is always the case, a company that rebrands makes it's customers unhappy. The company has said that it wanted to distance itself from Sci-Fi because it no longer only had science fiction content on the network. A coded phrase that says 'We want more women viewers'. Fortunately the UK Sci-Fi channel has not made the change, and I hope it doesn't. At least here we still have 100% Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror content on the channel. As usually happens when I talk without a script I missed the major point of my latest discussion on religion. The two main things that I hate about Evangelical Christianity are the objections to Gay Rights and Evolution. It makes me furious that people are using their faith to deny the human dignity of a large group of people and deny a genuine scientific fact that has stood up to the rigours of a century and a half of investigation. As I said on the show you are perfectly entitled to hold your own beliefs, but when you start being successful in getting those beliefs passed into law there is something critically wrong. It is this fury that is the main reason fro my vitriol against religion. It genuinely was a coincidence that I played 'The Unbeliever' after my latest religious rant. I set the playlist running order days before hand and then try and find things to talk about between the tracks. It just so happened that the thing I hasd to talk about before MDR was Dave's comment. Not too long until the PodCrawl and my promised hug from Caroline Lee. If you want to join in then check out the itinerary on the website and search out the Facebook Event. I also still want new bumpers for the Weird Track of the Week. If you are willing to risk the curse of most of my contributors podfading then send along an mp3 with your imaginative work. For the first time in a long time we have a really special video this week. The Middle Distance Runner vid is fantastic and ends in a completely different place from where it started. The Chambermaids - Lily Dead World Leaders - The Question [Live Performance, Poor Quality] Middle Distance Runner - The Unbeliever Fairmont - I Am The Mountain [Live Performance] On Friday we have another episode of Weekly Music Video Podcast that answers the question 'What's the most interesting thing you can do in a swimming pool?' See you next week where there will probably be more ranting. Category: Video Links -- posted at: 1:59 AM Comments[2] |

Sat, 17 October 2009 You see how it goes. I think I have nothing to talk about and I end up ranting for ages about American politics. I really can't stop myself sometimes. You need to go over to AMPed on Monday and check out Episode #201 that I hosted. See if there's any more music podcasts you like the sound of. Check out the PodCrawl and maybe come and join us on the 21st November if you're in the London area. Not much on the video front this week. We have three variations on the 'live-performance' video. The American Life - We Are Alive Hundred Days - No Better I Am Three - Nostalgia There was a delay in releasing this weeks WMVP due to some hosting room issues. I should have enough space on my hosting to release the interesting video with the girls in underwear on Monday. Category: Video Links -- posted at: 2:31 PM Comments[0] |
