Sun, 29 July 2007 It's hard to believe that an adapter only 2 inches long can cause so many problems. That's what stopped working so I couldn't put out a new show last weekend as I was hoping. Having replaced it yesterday all is back as it should be and normal service has been resumed. I'm incredibly excited that I was able to bring you the first track this week. I tried to get permission to play it a month ago after I saw Los Campesinos! play live, but didn't manage it. They then released it onto IODA so all podcasters can use it. I'm absolutely delighted. Also on the show we have some acoustic music, some dark electronica, some synth rock and some straight ahead rock. I have been in contact with the venue I am promoting my gigs at this week and things are moving along nicely. The first gig I am promoting will be at The Porter Butt in Bath on September 12th with a line-up of The Madisons, Slovakia and The Haiku.
Nice selection of videos this week

Wed, 25 July 2007 I did manage to get myself a new microphone, but it's such poor quality that it is not worth recording the show on. Since I pride myself on the clarity of the links I'm not going to release an episode that is not up to scratch just to release an episode. I will hopefully have sorted this all out by the weekend so I will next be releasing an episode on my usual Sunday/Monday schedule. Category: general -- posted at: 4:53 AM Comments[0] |
Mon, 23 July 2007 You might have noticed that this weeks episode is a bit late. I tried to record it last night but then discovered that my microphone has ceased to work. Until I get a new one I'm not going to be able to record the show. Normal service will be resumed shortly. Hopefully... Category: general -- posted at: 3:52 PM Comments[0] |
Sun, 15 July 2007 ![]() Brothers and sisters I have travelled far in the wilderness of the capital and have seen the light of the cyclists as they flash by! I did see The Devil walking the streets of that far city, but I resisted him and have returned to you brothers and sisters, to spread the word! To spread the word of independent music! Can I get an amen!!!
This is by way of saying I have not had a road to Damascus conversion, but while I was in London I did see The Devil. He is a German bloke called Didi Senft, who for years has followed The Tour de France wearing a devil costume. He also holds the record for the worlds largest working Bicycle. He's a complete nutter, but is a bit of a cycling icon. It pretty much made my weekend when I saw him walking towards Hyde Park.
With bizarre pseudo-celebrity sightings out of the way we move onto the music for this week, which I knicked from other podcasts. We have a double dose of Canadian rock, some unbelievably up-beat synth pop and two of the catchiest choruses you will ever hear.

Fri, 6 July 2007 In case anyone is desperate for a new episode I'm now confirming that there won't be a new episode this week. I'm just about to hop on a train to go up to London and watch the first two stages of the Tour de France and as I feared I didn't have time to produce a show this week. Hopefully the next show will be available either Sunday 15th July or Monday 16th July. Category: general -- posted at: 1:25 PM Comments[0] |
Tue, 3 July 2007 I don't usually get involved inthings like this and it's almost certainly futile, but this is something I feel strongly about. As many of you are probably aware the Fopp chain of record stores went into administration this week. It seems to have been a combination of the collapse of the high street music business thanks to iTunes, Amazon et al and the decision by Fopp management to buy the Music Zone chain which had previously gone into administration. It looks like they just over extended themselves. Speaking personally I always prefer to buy my music on CD rather than download and when I buy a CD I prefer to get it in the high street. Fopp is/was a great place to buy your music because it's so cheap and has a true independent spirit that is admirable. Speaking as someone who lives in Bath it is also the best place to watch live music in town. Fopp has a very special place in my heart and any little thing that can be done to keep it open should be attempted. Category: general -- posted at: 12:00 AM Comments[0] |
Sun, 1 July 2007 I had to record this show twice. I am puppy sitting for my brother while he is on holiday, and recorded the show with a 3-month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier on my lap. He was asleep for the whole of the recording process before waking up and unplugging the computer before I'd had a chance to save the show. I nearly throttled the little bastard. Unfortunately he's just too damn cute and resolved myself to re-recording the whole show. So here it is, a day later than I was intending to put it out but I think it was worth the wait. We have some synth-indie, some indie pop, some glam revival, some mellow trippy indie and I'm not quite sure how to classify my last track. All I know is it's fantastic. On the gig promotion front I had a bad week. I had yet another band pull out from the gig I was planning in August, which left me with little option but to cancel the whole show. This means that the first gig I will be promoting will be on 12th September at The Porter Butt in Bath. The line-up is confirmed as The Haiku, Slovakia and The Madisons. For each of my gigs I will be handing out free mix CDs to the first 25 people throught the door. If you want to get more details about the live music promotion then sign up to my mailing list using the box to the right.

I don't think there'll be a show next week as I'm spending the weekend in London watching the Tour de France and I probably wont have time to put out a podcast. So see you in a fortnight. Category: Video Links -- posted at: 10:31 PM Comments[0] |
